Kuwmaz Tuning And Riding Tips

Wheels:

Adjusting the wheels on a Kuwmaz Carve System is just like adjusting the wheels on a regular skateboard.  The wheels should spin freely without being too loose, and should not drag from being over tightened.  Adjust this by tightening or loosening the axle nut as needed.

Deck Bolts:

Before riding check the deck bolts for a snug fit using a Philips head screwdriver.  Bumpy riding surfaces and excessive power sliding require periodic spot checks for tightness. If deck bolts loosen often, secure them with medium strength thread locker or loc-tite.

Truck Base Screws:

Like the deck bolts, the truck base bolts should be checked for tightness before riding.  Tighten as necessary.  The leaf spring may have to be removed to attain leverage on the truck base screws.

Adjusting The Trucks:

Adjusting the trucks on a Kuwmaz Carve System is the same as adjusting the trucks on a regular skateboard.  To tighten the trucks and limit the turning capability simply tighten the 14mm kingpin nut.  To make the board looser, turn the kingpin nut counterclockwise.  **Important**  The rear truck should always be tighter than the front for a more stable ride and feel.  The spring in the rear truck differs from the front and is designed to accomplish this dynamic.

Terrain:

Begin riding your board on flat smooth surfaces.  Get familiar with your board and know your abilities before attempting any hills.  Start with small hills and gradually work your way up.  Remember this kit is designed for articulate carving, not bombing straight down hills.  Always know your limits, use discretion and ride in control.

Foot Placement:

The Kuwmaz Carve System offers a standard skateboard extreme turning capability. It is not necessary or even possible to turn a Kuwmaz board by stepping on the tail to lift the front wheels like a regular skateboard.  Therefore proper foot placement is achieved by placing your feet over the deck bolts (about shoulder width apart) in your surf or snowboard stance.

** It is NOT necessary to put your foot on the extreme tail of the board!!!**

Wheel Bite:

Wheel bite is the dreaded condition when the wheel rubs against the deck causing an unwanted braking action while turning.  If this condition develops simply tighten the kingpin nut in 1/4 turn increments until the condition stops.  The revolutionary Kuwmaz springs allow you to precisely control the action of the truck far beyond urethane grommets.

Customize Your ride:

Adjusting the Kingpin nut allows you to customize the feel of your board based on your personal preference and the terrain being ridden.  For hills stiffer trucks will offer a more stable ride with less turning capability.  On flat smooth surfaces, loosening the front kingpin nut will increase the carving capability.  Once you get acquainted with your board, this setting will enable you to generate speed (even uphill) using rhythmic rail-to-rail turns like pumping down the line surfing WITHOUT putting a foot on the ground.  The rear truck can also be loosened to assist in pumping, but always remember to keep the rear truck stiffer than the front. (Note the Front spring has a different look than the rear spring)
